The Salem Kiwanis Club hosted our annual Christmas party at Richmond Elementary School in Salem, Oregon on 12/13/05. We shared pizza and juice, and were entertained by the first graders who sang Christmas songs. It is difficult to say whether the Kiwanians or the students enjoy these annual parties more. Judging by all the smiles, it is safe to say that everyone had a great time. Santa made a surprise appearance with gifts for every student!

The Salem Kiwanis Club participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk. The event was held in Portland, Oregon on September 30, 2005. Due to safety concerns (heavy rains and multiple accidents on both I-5 and US 99) we decided it was not advisable for any of our team members to attempt to drive to the event. Even though we didn't attend, we submitted over $500.00 in contributions.

The Night of Fire benefit for Bailey Santana was a huge success as thousands of people from around the state literally crammed in to the Albertsons and Rite Aid parking lot for perhaps one of Salem's biggest automotive spectacles in recent memory. Over $7,000 dollars was raised in only five hours and over 180 cars registered. The finale of the event was the jet Funny Car owned and driven by Richard Smith. The jet roared to life and put on a spectacular fire show that will be talked about for years to come. The Salem Kiwanis Club is happy to have been a sponsor and participant in this great event which was put on by Capitol Auto Group Racing Team. More Info
